For driveways, a minimum excavation depth of 16 inches is strongly recommended. This allows for a solid foundation using crusher run, which compacts tightly and provides the structural strength needed to support vehicle loads.

For walkways and patios, a base depth of 6 to 8 inches is generally sufficient. In these areas, HPB (High Performance Bedding) is often the preferred material due to its excellent drainage and ease of installation.
